MOZI Professional Development Options
1-Day MOZI Overview
Participants will explore “hopes” and “fears” about teaching writing in their content areas the impact that not being able to write can have on students entering college, business, and government. Participants will also learn to create writing prompts that develop critical thinking skills, increase depth of knowledge, promote independent thinking, and aid in retention.
Intended outcomes include: (1) Increased identity as teachers of writing in all subject areas; (2) Increased craftsmanship in supporting students’ analytical writing skills by developing their capacity to write arguments/opinions to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence and to write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas, concepts, and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content.
